Pair 19thc. Religious Staffordshire figures titled Moody & Sankey.
MOODY: - American Evangelist, born Northfield, Mass. 1837-1899. A shopkeeper in Boston, he moved to Chicago in 1856 and became engaged in missionary work. In 1870 he joined Ira David Sankey on a trip to England as evangelists. In 1873 and 1883 Moody and Sankey sang together, subsdequently they worked together in America.
IRA DAVID SANKEY: 1840-1908 - Born in Edinburgh, Penn. American Evangelist joined Moody in 1870.

Condition: nibble on base of both figures, (see photograph) glazing hairline on Sankey on neck. wear to paint on their hair on reverse. They are a very nice pair.
