Rare 19thc. StaffordshireCircus figure of a tightrope walkerraised on a gilt lined base.  Possible Louiosa Woolfor. Ducrow's second wife and leading tight rope performer.  Brought up to be a wire walker and trick rider, she danced on the back of a horseas itcircled as confidently as shecould float in the air, she was the prototype of allequestrian ballerine.  Dickens described the thrill of her.
