Very rare 19th century Staffordshire figure titled JOHN BROWN - American Abolitionist born in Connecticutt of pilgrim descent.  He stands bare-headed with long beard, morning coat, waistcoat and trousers on either side a negro child.  John Brown was hanged in 1859 2 years before outbreak of The American Civil War. c.1859. 10.5" high. No damage.Ref. 3520 - £525
